The ocean is abundant with a huge diversity of sea life and is at the top of many things to explore in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is becoming a major spot for watching Whales and Dolphins. The ideal locations for whale watching would be Dondra Point (accessible from Galle, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa) and Trincomalee while the sea off Kalpitiya teems with an abundance of dolphins. Mirissa is the best place to start your whale and dolphin watching tour in Sri Lanka. There are Sperm Whales, Blue Whales, Bottle Nose Dolphin, and Spinner dolphins are able to see in here. During the October to May Mirissa became one of a great place for observing Blue Whales. Not even that May to October is the season in Trincomalee, for watching large gangs of dolphins are common sighting in Trincomalee.
